  • How do I send cheer from my social media account?
    • Facebook –
      • Due to privacy restrictions on Facebook, our website cannot see cheers sent as status updates on your personal account. However, we encourage you to share as many cheers in as many ways as you like with friends and family. If you would like to send a cheer on Facebook please follow our Life Made Delicious fan page and post your cheer to our wall using #cheeRIO2016, our team will add your cheer to the website to ensure it appears on the cheer wall.
    • Twitter –
      • Got a cheer you can share in 140 characters or less? Tweet your cheers using #cheeRIO2016 and choose to upload a photo or not. Once approved your cheer will appear on our Digital Cheer Wall.
    • Instagram –
      • Like to express yourself through pictures? We do too! Upload a photo cheer and use #cheeRIO2016 in the caption to have your cheer included in our digital cheer wall.
  • My cheers aren’t showing on the cheer wall when I send them, why is that?
    • All cheers go through an approval process to ensure they are appropriate. We want your cheers to be heard, but we also want to make sure children under 12 can hear them too! Please allow for adequate time to review and approve all cheers sent.
    • Other reasons your cheers aren’t showing:
      • Got a private account? We like to respect your privacy. If your account is private, we can’t share it on our cheer wall.
      • As much as we want to share all your cheers, we only have so much space on our cheer wall. Please note that we can’t guarantee that all cheers will be displayed.
  • I don’t have a Social Media account, how can I let Team Canada know I support them?
    • You’re not on social media?! Don’t worry, we totally understand. If you don’t have a social account but still want to send a cheer, you can do so directly on sendyoucheer.ca. Just click the “Send Your Cheer” button at the top middle of the page and you’ll be prompted to add your name and a cheer, you can even upload a picture if you want!
  • My class/afterschool group/community program wants to send a group cheer, how can we do this?
    • You can send a cheer on our homepage or through social media. If you’re a group you can add your name to the homepage cheer button or send from your group’s social account. Thanks for cheering on Team Canada!
  • How long has General Mills Canada been a Canadian Olympic Sponsor?
    • General Mills Canada has been a proud supporter or Team Canada since 1998. We’re happy to bring Canadians and Team Canada together during each and every Olympic year. General Mills Canada proudly participates in Canadian Olympic activities.
  • My relative/friend is competing in the Olympic Games in Rio.  How do I ensure he or she sees the cheers that are for him/her?
    • We’re so excited you want to cheer your friends on! Because cheers are online, you can tag your friend’s username on Twitter and Instagram in order to ensure they are notified that you sent them a cheer. The microsite is accessible by all and Cheerios will be sponsoring a cheer station in Rio at Canada Olympic House where athletes can check in on cheers.
  • I am a coach/parent/agent of an athlete who would like to be sponsored by General Mills.  How do I go about applying for General Mills sponsorship or support from the Canadian Olympic Committee
    • We recommend you contact the National association for your sport to enquire about sponsorship opportunities.
  • In past years, Cheerios printed post cards that people would cut out of the Cheerios box.   Why aren’t you doing this for the Olympics in Rio?
    • This year, Cheerios wanted to make cheers accessible to all Canadians. Through the use of #cheeRIO2016 you can share cheers with athletes as well as your friends and family. By brining cheers online, Canadians are able to send cheer and connect directly with Team Canada as well as inspire others to cheer as well.
